Lesson 5. Skills 1
I/ OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, students can: Read for specific information about an unusual lifestyle in the countryside
- Talk about what they like or dislike about life in the countrysid
1. Knowledge:
a. Grammar : Simple present
b. Lexical items : - Vocab : Life in the countryside lexical items
c. Pronunciation: -
2. Skills:
- Listening, Speaking, Reading,Writing and interactive skills
3. Attitude:
- Cooperation, respect, having right and friendly attitudes with friends, teachers in the new school
4. Quality and competence:
- Be confident and friendly with the new school environment
- Develope listening, speaking skills and cooperative interaction
II/ TEACHING AIDS (MATERIALS)
1.Teacher’s preparation:
- Lesson plan, Pictures, posters ,textbook,CD-MP3(Computer-Multi projector/cassette/ “sách mềm”) and other materials

I. Warm up (5'): Brainstorming
- T shows Ss some picture of Mongolia
-T writes the word Mongolia on the board.
- Have Ss brainstorm what they know about this country and its people ( they can express in Vietnamese some words that they can’t express in English)
- Keep it to the end of the period
-Introduce the new lesson

II.The new lesson
* Teaching vocabulary
- Teacher use different techniques to teach vocabulary (situation, realia)
- Follow the seven steps of teaching vocabulary

- dairy (n) Sự sản xuất bơ sữa
- pasture (n) Đồng cỏ

- How many times do nomad move a year?
1.Quickly read the passage and choose the most suitable heading A,B,C for each paragraph (P22)
- Ask Ss to read the headings first and make sure they understand their meanings.
- Ask ss to work individually to read each part of the passage and choose the correct heading for it.
Have Ss exchange their answers
-T checks the answers as a class.
2. Match the descriptions with the words and phrases from the passage (p22)
- Have ss go through the table
- Ask Ss to read the passage again and underline the words (a-e) then try to guess the meanings of these words, based on the context.
-Ss complete the task independently.
- Have ss write the answers on the board

- Ask ss to read the sentences and do the exercise independently.
- T may guide Ss to look for key words which can help them find the part of the passage where the information for the answers is given.

4. Work in pairs . Interview your partner to see if she/he like or dislikes Mogolia nomadic life (p22)
- Make sure that ss know how to do the exercise
- Ask ss to read the example
- Have ss work in pairs to practise
- Encourage them to follow up and talk about as many different details as possible.
- T can ask some pairs to report on their likes and dislikes.
- T can make two lists of their likes and dislikes on the board and see which ideas are the most common.
5. a.Work in pairs. Discuss and find (p23)
- Have ss think about the life in the countryside in Viet Nam.
- Get Ss to work in pairs, discussing which two things they both like and which two things they both dislike.
5b. Report your findings to the class
- Have ss read the example and report their findings to the class

III. Consolidation (3')
- List things that you know about :Mongolia after reading the passage . Check with the prediction at the beginning of the period .
IV. Homework (2')
- Learn by heart all the new words and structures
- Guide ss how to do exs (Work book)
- Prepare: Unit 2: Skills 2

- Answer teacher's questions.
