Today, I wish to inform you: Facebook will be officially closed.
I close Facebook because of my daughter’s desire for the brighter future. It is also my wish and Priscilla Chan - my wife. Not only my daughter, but also the whole humanity must live in peace, prosperity and progress. In fact, I do, did and will do whatever possible for it. For my beloved daughter, I will do everything even to close Facebook. From tomorrow, Facebook will be closed worldwide. Maybe a lot of people will be surprised. However, the followings are the reasons which take me to this decision.
Face book created connection but the truth is in contrast.
My original purpose when creating Facebook is to build connection between society and human so that people can receive and share love with each other. However, in the past 13 years, Facebook has done differently. Human becomes more distant from each other and less emotional. Human’s life becomes more virtual. It is not the true value of life.
Facebook took people too much time.
People spent so much time on Facebook. There are many places in the world where people use Facebook for 3 to 4 hours per day. Thus, when can people have enough time to produce or study and research? Prosperous society is the society that had many possessions and creative inventions to improve the living condition. When closing Facebook, I hope humanity will have more time to focus on the development of society.
The security information is a serious concern.
The developed country is the society where the information of everyone is respected. It must be a something sacrosanct. However, on Facebook the information is no longer secure. Currently, the brutal terrorist organizations like IS, al-Qaeda ... have taken advantage of Facebook to search for users’ information. They use it to instigate, recruit extremists.
Closing Facebook can be said to be the most difficult decision of my life. It took me a long time to think about this. Facebook is my passion and also my life. It has brought me the fame and fortune as well. Nevertheless, I will do everything for my daughter’s future. The children’s future must be a future with peace, prosperity and progress.
